It is estimated that each year over 50 000 pet reptiles are left homeless in the United States alone.

These animals having been raised as pets are unable to be released into the wild and as such those animals who are unable to be re-housed have to be destroyed.

Many of these reptiles are extremely rare and expensive to purchase as new pets but are availabe for free to those people who are willing to offer them a new home.
